Well, the reason for the lack of newsletter is, of course, my pc. Last Friday night one of my hard drives died, and it had to be the C, obviously. But we weren't sure of it until Saturday morning, when we run all the tests. So, Saturday, was all about getting a new, BIG, shiny new disk, and then the long, tedious but necessary rescue of all the files of the dead one, and later, reinstall the OS, and all the programs, blah, blah, blah.
At midday on Sunday, everything was ready: I did all the reconfigurations, customizations and fooled around a bit (I have Window 8, now), aaaaaaaaaaaand... yes! Incredible, but true, the new, BIG, shiny new disk died on me.
I seem to attract weird computational shit *sigh*
Of course, I got a new disk. And said new disk was totally scanned before doing anything else, because, really! I didn't want any more surprises :P
And now (fingers crossed) everything is working smoothly enough. But, being as it is late afternoon on Wednesday, it doesn't makes a lot of sense to edit the newsletter today, Next week, you'll have a double, think about it! Wonderfulness all around, isn't it?
Well, just wanted to let you know what had happened :D
See you later!

Date: 2014-03-19 10:04 pm (UTC)Ah, well, at least I have now LOTS of space (I wouldn't bet about how long that will be true), a new OS to tinker about, and fresh installations of everything. Silver lining and all that jazz :P

But glad to see that you have dauntlessly vanquished the evil computer gremlins! Thank you again for all your hard work for the fandom, especially.

Date: 2014-03-20 12:45 am (UTC)Well, I mostly didn't, wither, but I had used it often enough at my son's pc, and... well, the thing that it's really better in Windows 8 is the management and analysis of hardware. And after the last days? That was the one thing that convince. Time will tell :P
Ah, Macs are really pretty! And it makes sense for you to use it, as they are better for graphic design and everything related to graphics :D

Date: 2014-03-20 09:14 am (UTC)I'm so sorry to hear about your computer woes.
Honestly, we can't live without them, but we also can't live with them.
I really hope this drive behaves itself.

Date: 2014-03-20 12:59 pm (UTC)Ah, I know, its aspect is quite different from 7, but I set it as similar as possible to it, so I still have my 'start' button, with all my software, except it's in the right side, instead of the left. And, aside if the aesthetics aspects, it's a quite robust OS, with a widely better management of hardware, so there is that.
I guess it will be like going from Windows 3.11 to Windows 95: shock to the system *laughs* In time, we always adapt *g*.

Date: 2014-03-20 01:08 pm (UTC)Oh noes! Nothing worse than a dead computer - well, possibly a dead car is slightly worse. They both make terrible paperweights once they die.
Good luck with the new beastie. xxx
